PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method for a glass fine particle deposit and a manufacturing method for a glass preform such that the glass raw material yield of the glass fine particle deposit can be improved.SOLUTION: There is provided a manufacturing method for a glass fine particle deposit that includes a deposition process of making glass fine particles by subjecting a glass raw material 23 to flame thermal decomposition reaction in a flame formed by a burner 22, and depositing the made glass fine particles on a starting rod 11 to manufacture the glass fine particle deposit M. For the depositing process, at least two liquid raw material ports 31a for the glass raw material 23 jetted from each burner 22 are provided for the burner 22, and the area of at least one liquid raw material port 31a is set to be 2.25×10or less of the area of a flame formation part of the burner 22, and the glass raw material 23 is supplied in a liquid state to each liquid raw material port 31a. An inner periphery of a jet gas port 31b is arranged at a position 1.0 mm or less outside an outer periphery of each liquid raw material port 31a, and a gas is jetted from each jet gas port 31b. |
