PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cooler which is easy in control by a mechanism different from a Peltier module, and can improve a COP (coefficient of performance).SOLUTION: A cooler 1 is configured by sequentially stacking a heat transfer apparatus 10, an electrocaloric effect film 20, a heat transfer apparatus 30 and a heat sink 40. When interrupting application of a voltage after the application of the voltage across paired electrodes 21 arranged on upper and lower surfaces of the electrocaloric effect film 20, a temperature of the electrocaloric effect film 20 is decreased lower than a temperature of a heat generation element 99. By this heat difference, the electrocaloric effect film 20 absorbs heat, this heat absorption effect is exerted even to the heat generation element 99 via the heat transfer apparatus 10, and the heat generation element 99 can be cooled. On the other hand, when applying a voltage to the electrocaloric effect film 20, a temperature of the electrocaloric effect film 20 is raised, however, a heat transfer direction of the heat transfer apparatus 10 composed of a heat pipe is one direction (only an upward direction), the heat is thereby suppressed from being transferred to the heat generation element 99 via the heat transfer apparatus 10, and the heat is dissipated via the heat sink 40. |
