<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resistor which reduces a projection area without decreasing a resistance value, and a resistance element required therefor.SOLUTION: A resistance element 1 including a columnar core 3 and a resistance wire 2 wound around the core 3, a cross section of the core 3 vertical to an axial line of the core 3 including a long direction and a short direction, and a resistor including the resistance element 1 are disclosed. Even in the case where a cross-sectional area of the core 3 is enlarged by shortening the core 3 in order to decrease the projection area, the projection area can be decreased without decreasing a length of the resistance wire wound around an outer periphery of the core 3. The cross section can be made elliptic. Caps 4c are provided which are integrated in both end portions of the resistance wire 2, and the core 3 includes a winding part 3a around which the resistance wire 2 is wound, and cap mounting parts 3b provided in both end faces of the winding part 3a for mounting the caps 4c. The end face of the cap mounting part 3b may also be formed independent of a shape of an end face of the winding part 3a.</p> |
