PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect that one valuable medium carried in a carrying path is carried in a state that the one valuable medium is separated into two or more pieces.SOLUTION: A valuable medium processor comprises: a carriage part carrying a valuable medium; a medium state detection sensor detecting passage of the valuable medium carried in the carriage part; a medium state determination part determining whether or not one valuable medium is carried in a state that the one valuable medium is separated into two or more pieces on the basis of a signal obtained by having detected the passage of the valuable medium by the medium state detection sensor and a signal indicating that it becomes impossible to detect the valuable medium by the medium state detection sensor while the valuable medium passes; and a carriage control part carrying the valuable medium carried in a state that the valuable medium is separated into the two or more pieces to a prescribed carriage destination on the basis of a determination result of the medium state determination part.
