PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a technique that is able to easily generate a moving image focused on a specific subject when recording by associating each other a still image and a moving image a predetermined time before from the start of the recording of the still image.SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus for recording by associating a still image and a moving image with each other comprises: storage means for storing a moving image a predetermined time before from the time when an instruction is given to start recording the still image; face recognition means for recognizing a face in the still image recorded by the still image recording means; face registration means for registering the face recognized by the face recognition means; determination means for determining the degree of similarity of the face recognized by the face recognition means, to the face registered by the face registration means; moving-image recording means for recording a moving image stored in the storage means, if the determination means determines that the degree of similarity is higher than a reference value; and control means for recording the moving image stored in the storage means, such that this image and the moving image recorded by the moving-image recording means are continuously reproduced when the moving image has already been recorded in the moving-image recording means.
