METHOD OF ACCESSING UPDATED FILE, AND COMPUTER AND SOFTWARE PRODUCT IMPLEMENTING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To update a file without having to perform cascaded updates in data structures of a system and without unnecessary writes to storage.SOLUTION: In response to an application receiving an update including modified content of an old file, a new file into which the modified content is copied is created while access to the old file is maintained. Old file logical block addresses (LBAs) are mapped to old file physical block addresses (PBAs), and new file LBAs are mapped to new file PBAs. The mapping of the old file LBAs is automatically swapped from the old file PBAs to the new file PBAs; the mapping of the old file LBAs and the old file PBAs is removed; and the mapping of the new file LBAs and the new file PBAs is controlled.
