PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water pump capable of restraining a small amount of cooling water leaked from a mechanical seal from flowing out to a pulley side along a driving shaft.SOLUTION: A water pump includes a driving shaft 7 rotatably supported in an inside of a pump housing 2, a pulley 5 integrally joined to one end of the driving shaft through an end wall 5a and integrally molded by a synthetic resin material containing glass fiber, an impeller 8 provided on the other end of the driving shaft, and a mechanical seal 9 provided between the pulley and the impeller on the driving shaft. The driving shaft is constituted by a large diameter shaft 7a as a first shaft integrally formed in the center of the end wall from an axial direction, and an intermediate diameter shaft 7b as a second shaft provided on the other end side of the large diameter shaft 7a through a tilt surface 7e, and in the large diameter shaft, a plurality of water trapping grooves 21 are formed along the axial direction on the pulley side rather than the mechanical seal in almost equal intervals along a circumferential direction. |
