<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer, whose printer head is prevented from colliding a paper floating-up preventing member or the like provided on a platen when the print head is moved in a direction orthogonal to a direction in which the print head opposes to the platen to be arranged at a position where the print head opposes to the platen.SOLUTION: A carriage 11 of a line printer 1 comprises a head unit 12 for holding a print head 8 and a carriage frame 13 that supports the head unit 12 to be movable vertically. When the carriage 11 is moved from a stand-by position 11B and then arranged at an opposite position 11a, the head unit 12 is moved while being arranged at a unit elevated position 12A where a gap between a platen unit 17 and the head unit has a first distance L1. Thereafter, in the stand-by position 11B, the head unit 12 is made to descend from the unit elevated position 12A to a unit descended position 12B where a platen gap G has a second distance shorter than the first distance L1.</p> |
