PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a horizontal automatic transmission where four planetary gear sets, three clutches, and two brakes are coaxially-located in a transmission case to improve mountability to a vehicle by simplifying a hydraulic pressure supply passage to each clutch, suppressing an increase in size of the transmission with multistage structure or deterioration of responsiveness in shift control, and friction fastening element arranged appropriately.SOLUTION: The mountability to a vehicle is improved by the following manner: a first clutch CL1 and a first brake BR1 are located on a side of a driving source A of an output gear 13 which is located close to an end on the side of the driving source A in a transmission case 11; first to fourth planetary gear sets PG1 to PG4, second and third clutches CL2 and CL3, and a second brake BR2 are located on the opposite side of the driving source A of the output gear 13; hydraulic pressure can be directly supplied to the first to third clutches CL1 to CL3 from the transmission case 11; and the axial dimension on the opposite side of the driving source A of the output gear 13 is shortened. |
