PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide polymer-reinforcing fibers that improve crack resistance and tensile strength of concrete.SOLUTION: The present invention provides core-sheath, segmented-pie, side-by-side composite fibers containing an ethylene-vinyl alcohol (EVOH) outer component and a second component comprising a polymer blend of polypropylene grafted with maleic anhydride and polypropylene or polyethylene. The composite polymeric macrofibers have high adhesion between their components, and exhibit an excellent fiber reinforcement effect in concrete applications. |
