SURFACE EMITTING LASER OF VERTICAL EXTERNAL RESONATOR TYPE AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide surface emitting laser of an external resonator type capable of improving thermal diffusion efficiency.SOLUTION: Disclosed is surface emitting laser of a vertical external resonator type including a lower reflection mirror and an active layer on the surface of a substrate. This resonator type includes: a groove formed on the rear surface of the substrate; a highly thermally conductive material which is formed so as to continuously cover the rear surface of the substrate and the inner wall surface of the groove and has higher thermal conductivity than the material of the substrate; and a heat sink which is arranged on the rear surface side of the substrate. The surface emitting laser of the vertical external resonator type is provided to the highly thermally conductive material in joint with the heat sink.
