The present invention relates to a media for a selective culture of Escherichia coli and, more specifically to a media for a selective culture of Escherichia coli containing proteose peptone and soya peptone as nutritious components and additionally 5-bromo-4-chloro-3-indoxyl-β-galactopyronoside (X-gal) as a selective factor; and a method for a selective culture of Escherichia coli using the same. The media for a selective culture of Escherichia coli can culture and separate Escherichia coli selectively and precisely in a short time, therefore, it can be effectively utilized for epidemiological study, diagnosis, and analysis of contagious or food poisoning bacteria through Escherichia coli which is fecal indicator bacteria. |
