The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing an insect repellent material and the insect repellent material manufactured thereby, wherein the material is manufactured by combining an insect repelling ingredient with a fiber material such as a synthetic fiber fabric. The method of the invention comprises the steps of: irradiating a fabric material with an electron beam; and grafting an insect repelling ingredient onto the fabric material to form a grafted branch. The present invention can easily provide an insect repelling function for a finished fiber material.
