PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system for monitoring ablation size.SOLUTION: A system 10 for monitoring ablation size includes a power source including a microprocessor for executing at least one control algorithm. A microwave antenna delivers microwave energy to a tissue from the power source so as to form an ablation zone. An ablation zone control module 300 operatively communicates with a memory associated with the power source. The memory includes one or more data look-up tables including data representing one or more electrical parameters associated with a control curve varying over time and associated with the microwave antenna 100. A point along the control curve corresponds to a value of the electrical parameter and the control module of the ablation zone triggers a signal when a predetermined threshold value of one or more electrical parameters is measured corresponding to a radius of the ablation zone. |
