PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition for paper coating used in manufacturing offset printing paper excellent in blank brightness, printing brightness and print strength and excellent in flowability, a water holding property, coatability or the like.SOLUTION: There is provided a composition for paper coating for offset printing paper containing a pigment, PVA and aliphatic conjugated diene copolymer particles, where the pigment contains 50 to 100 mass% of calcium carbonate, PVA has a viscosity of a solution with concentration of 4% according to JIS K6726 of 20 mPa s or less and the content of 0.2 to 5.0 pts.mass based on 100 pts.mass of the pigment, and the aliphatic conjugated diene copolymer particles are particles of a copolymer consisting of a unit derived from aliphatic conjugated diene of 30 to 65 mass%, a unit derived from ethylenic unsaturated carboxylic acid of 1 to 8 mass% and a unit derived from a monomer copolymerizable with them of 27 to 69 mass% with an average particle diameter of 60 to 180 nm and the content of 4 to 12 pts.mass based on 100 pts.mass of the pigment. |
