This invention provides fully human monoclonal antibodies that recognize IL-17F and/or the heterodimeric IL-17A/IL-17F complex, but do not recognize IL-17A. The invention further provides methods of using such monoclonal antibodies as a therapeutic, diagnostic, and prophylactic.

1. Isolated nucleic acid encoding a monoclonal anti-IL-17F antibody heavy and/or light chain, or an antigen-binding fragment thereof, wherein said antibody comprises:
(a) a VH CDR1 region comprising the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 45, 48, 51, 64, 67 or 70; (b) a VH CDR2 region comprising the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 46, 49, 52, 54, 62, 65, 68, 71 or 73; (c) a VH CDR3 region comprising the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 47, 50, 53, 55, 63, 66, 69 or 72; (d) a VL CDR1 region comprising the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 74, 77, 80, 85, 91 or 94; (e) a VL CDR2 region comprising the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 75, 78, 81, 83, 86, 92 or 96; and (f) a VL CDR3 region comprising the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 76, 79, 82, 84, 93, 95, 97, 98 and 99, wherein said antibody binds IL-17F.
