PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brushless motor control technique allowing continuous operation or restarting of a motor regardless of a motor operating state even after failure of a magnetic pole sensor is detected.SOLUTION: A brushless motor control method comprises: energizing a coil in 2n energization patterns to compare an actual position signal outputted from a sensor with a regulation position signal to be essentially outputted from the sensor in each energization pattern; specifying a failed sensor and the failure state thereof on the basis of the comparison result to estimate a rotational position of a rotor where an abnormal signal being a combination of signals impossible in normal time is detected from the actual position signal of the failed sensor; and energizing the coil in an energization pattern essentially executed when the rotor is at a position where the abnormal signal is detected to operate the motor without disabling a start even when the rotor stops at the position.
