1. A method performed by a mobile device, the method comprising:
generating, by a processor of the mobile device, first reference bits and second reference bits; producing, by the mobile device, a portion of a frame to send in an uplink transmission, wherein the portion of the frame includes a first portion and a second portion; wherein the first portion includes the first reference bits and data bits; wherein the second portion includes the second reference bits without data bits; wherein alternating elements of the second portion include reference bits and elements between the alternating elements do not include reference bits; and sending, by the mobile device, the portion of the frame.
