A claw pump has: a housing forming a pump chamber; two rotating shafts arranged parallel to each other inside the housing; a pair of rotors secured respectively to the two rotating shafts inside the housing, two or more hook-shaped pawls that mesh with each other without coming in contact being formed on each rotor; a rotation drive device for rotatably driving the pair of rotors; and an intake port and discharge port formed in a partition wall of the housing. The discharge port is configured of a first discharge port and a second discharge port formed respectively on side plates forming the axial-direction end surfaces of the rotating shafts of the housing, and formed in positions of being communicated with compression pockets each having one set of pawls formed therein. The claw pump is provided with a mechanism for opening and closing the first discharge port and the second discharge port. During one rotation of the pair of rotors, this opening/closing mechanism causes air in a compression pocket where at least one set of pawls are formed to be discharged through only the first discharge port, and causes air in a compression pocket where at least one other set of pawls are formed to be discharged through only the second discharge port. |
