PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a piezoelectric element having high adhesion between an electrode and a piezoelectric element assembly and capable of increasing an amount of displacement, and a method for manufacturing a piezoelectric element.SOLUTION: A piezoelectric element 1 comprises a piezoelectric element assembly 3, a film 5 formed on the piezoelectric element assembly 3 and including a compound having a plurality of thiol groups, and electrodes 7 and 8 formed on the film 5 and composed of Au, Ni, or Pt. The compound having the plurality of thiol groups is pentaerythritol tetrakis (3-mercapto butylate), tris-methylpropane mercaptoacetate, pentaerythritol tetrakis mercaptoacetate, trimethylolpropane tris (3-mercapto propionate), pentaerythritol tetrakis (3-mercapto propionate), or dipentaerythritol hexakis (3-mercapto propionate), or tris[2-(mercapto propionyloxy) ethyl] isocyanurate. |
