[Also in Group XVII] The corner flap 3 of a cardboard carton blank 1 travelling in the direction of the arrow 8 over a table 13 is blown upwardly about a crease 6 by an air jet from a nozzle 9, so that a further flap 4 hinged to the flap 3 by a crease 7 abuts a deflector plate 11, whereupon the flap 4 is folded downwardly, pressing means 12 being provided adjacent the deflector plate, the flap 3 being thus folded down on to the upper surface of the blank 1 and the flap 4 folded on to the flap 3. The pressing means comprises a roller under which the flap 3 passes, and the deflector plate 11 curves downwardly to the end 11<SP>1</SP> which lies closely parallel to the table. An elastic member may assist the air jet. |
