A display device for a motor vehicle includes: a display for displaying vehicle information; a computing device receiving vehicle data via a data bus, evaluating the received vehicle data, and causing an acoustic warning as a function of the evaluation of the vehicle data; and a connection between the display device and a loudspeaker for outputting of the acoustic warning, the connection to the loudspeaker being connected to an input of an evaluation device in such a way that, depending on a signal present at the connection of the loudspeaker, a malfunctioning or a functioning of the acoustic output is determined, and an optical warning display is provided for outputting an optical warning in the case of a malfunction of the acoustic output.

a display configured to display vehicle information; a computing device configured to receive vehicle data via a data bus, evaluate the received vehicle data, and trigger an acoustic warning as a function of the evaluation of the vehicle data; and an optical warning display; wherein the display device has a connection to a loudspeaker for outputting of the acoustic warning, and wherein the connection to the loudspeaker is connected to an input of an evaluation device in such a way that, depending on a signal present at the connection of the loudspeaker, a malfunction of an acoustic output of the loudspeaker is determined, and wherein an optical warning is output via the optical warning display in the case of the malfunction of the acoustic output of the loudspeaker.
