PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide techniques of minimizing impact of coordinated silence periods, for self-synchronization by a base station.SOLUTION: Network information regarding coordinated silence periods is sent to a wireless communication device. The network information indicates a first time period. The first time period is a period of silence by a base station for receiving synchronization signals from an upper base station. The synchronization signals from the upper base station are monitored during the first time period. Monitoring the synchronization signals includes not transmitting.
