<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress, in a configuration where a toner image is reduced in a direction of circulation of an intermediate transfer belt and transferred from the intermediate transfer belt onto a recording medium, shrinkage in the direction of circulation of a toner image transferred onto the recording medium with respect to the width direction of the intermediate transfer belt.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes: a circulating annular intermediate transfer belt; a stretch roll that stretches the intermediate transfer belt; a transfer member that forms a nip area, which is a curved face biting into the stretch roll with the intermediate transfer belt therebetween, and transfers a toner image on the surface of the intermediate transfer belt onto a recording medium within the nip area; and a toner image forming unit that forms the toner image transferred onto the recording medium by the transfer member on the surface of the intermediate transfer belt, while extending the toner image in a direction of circulation with respect to the width direction of the intermediate transfer belt.</p> |
