Uplink Transmissions in a Wireless Device

A wireless device receives a control command instructing the wireless device to transmit a random access preamble on a random access channel of a first cell. The wireless device transmits, overlapping in time with transmission of the random access preamble, an uplink packet on a first subframe of the first cell. Transmission power of the uplink packet is calculated considering a maximum allowable transmission power in the first subframe of the first cell and the transmission power of the random access preamble.

1. A method for use by a wireless device, the method comprising:
a) receiving from a base station at least one message comprising configuration parameters of a plurality of cells comprising a primary cell and at least one secondary cell, said plurality of cells being grouped into a plurality of cell groups; b) receiving a control command instructing said wireless device to transmit a random access preamble on a random access channel of a first cell in a first cell group in said plurality of cell groups; and c) transmitting, overlapping in time with transmission of said random access preamble, an uplink packet on a first subframe of said first cell; and wherein transmission power of said uplink packet is calculated considering:
i) a maximum allowable transmission power in said first subframe of said first cell; andii) transmission power of said random access preamble.
