PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an anti-periostin antibody and a kit for detecting the total periostin in a sample obtained from an asthmatic.SOLUTION: The anti-periostin antibody comprises the hypervariable region (HVR) of a specific amino acid sequence, and can bind to human periostin isoforms 1-4. The antibody may be a monoclonal antibody or a chimeric antibody, and is an anti-periostin antibody which can detect the total periostin, comprising a heavy chain variable domain (VH) sequence having at least 90%, 91%, 92%, 93%, 94%, 95%, 96%, 97%, 98%, 99%, or 100% sequence identity to a specific amino acid sequence, and a light chain variable domain (VL) sequence having at least 90%, 91%, 92%, 93%, 94%, 95%, 96%, 97%, 98%, 99%, or 100% sequence identity to a specific amino acid sequence. |
