A die-plunger type box blank erecting machine for tongue and slit comer joint blanks 23, Fig. 3, has, for slit opening, retractable projections 33, Fig. 1, on the slit side coating line walls, and co-operating recesses 32 in the plunger, the projections 33 engaging material of the erected slit side between the slit 17 and the edge adjacent to the flap 15. During passage of the blank through the die, the slit sides 16 are erected prior to the other sides 12, 13, and the flaps 15, on bending through a right angle, slide into the previously opened slits 17. The machine may be modified by replacing the projections 33 by spring urged slide mounted rollers. |
