A polymerizable liquid-crystal compound represented by the general formula (I) can be used as an additive effective for preventing crystal deposition after coating with the polymerizable liquid crystal (II) or a polymerizable liquid crystal similar thereto. P represents a polymerizable functional group; Sp represents a spacer or a single bond; Z 1 and Z 2 each represent -CO-O-; R 0 represents a linear alkyl group having from 1 to 15 carbon atoms; R 2 , R 3 and R 4 each independently represent an alkyl group having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, an alkoxy group having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, an alkoxycarbonyl group having from 2 to 5 carbon atoms, an acyloxy group having from 2 to 5 carbon atoms, an acyl group having from 2 to 4 carbon atoms, an amide group having from 2 to 5 carbon atoms, a cyano group, an amino group, a hydroxyl group, or a halogen atom; r 1 , r 2 and r 3 indicate an integer of from 0 to 4; when r 1 , r 2 and r 3 each are 2 or more, then R 2 , R 3 and R 4 each may be the same or different; however, when R 0 is a methyl group, then r 2 is not 1. |
