<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve combustion stability in switching from combustion by a pilot burner 6 to combustion by a main burner 5. <P>SOLUTION: In this combustion device including the pilot burner 6 and the main burner 5, and further including a combustion air supply amount adjustment means 1 to supply the air of different amounts between pilot combustion and main combustion, the control to start the combustion of the main burner 5 while limiting the air supply amount, and to increase the combustion air supply amount to the air supply amount for the main combustion in main trial, is executed.
