PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for automating the settings of a device to be newly connected in Ethernet (registered trade mark) connection.SOLUTION: A method comprises: on setting of an interface speed and FULL/HALF of a duplex mode between one device and another device, starting up an interface with an autonegotiation function of the one device enabled regardless of whether an automatic setting function of the other device is set to be enabled or disabled, to connect with the other device; if, as a result, the duplex mode of the one device becomes FULL, determining that the automatic setting function of the other device is valid; if the duplex mode of the one device becomes HALF, determining that the automatic setting function of the other device is invalid, and confirming an interface speed between the devices; disabling the autonegotiation function of the one device; and resetting the interface to the confirmed interface speed and fixed FULL duplex mode. |
