<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a synthetic leather that has fine grain features close to a natural leather and is excellent in wear resistance, and to provide a simple method for producing the same. <P>SOLUTION: The synthetic leather is provided with an adhesion layer and a surface layer on a substrate in this order. The surface layer has grains on the surface that meet the following requirements (1)-(3) in the cross-sectional shape. (1) In the cross-sectional shape of grains, a curvature radius R of a protrusion and a recess is 0.01 mm-0.30 mm. (2) In the cross-sectional shape of grains, an interior angle of a protrusion is 100°-130°.
