PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem in a conventional electronic sphygmomanometer: the measuring time cannot be sufficiently reduced because a pressure must be increased at a speed so low that seven pulse waves are obtained for a person whose pulse is low, in order to recognize pulse wave intervals after starting to increase pressure.SOLUTION: The electronic sphygmomanometer increases the pressure in a cuff placed on a part of a human body to calculate the blood pressure on the basis of a pulse wave signal superimposed on the cuff pressure during pressure increase. In the sphygmomanometer, the position of a portion to be measured (an arm on which the cuff is placed) is detected before increasing the pressure of the cuff, a pressure increase speed is set depending on a pulse rate (pulse interval) of a subject which is obtained while measuring whether or not the portion to be measured is at a proper position of blood pressure measurement. |
