<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve display similar to display of a paper surface friendly with a user's eyes and improve the visibility and definition, in a liquid crystal display device for performing display using the scattered light of light by liquid crystal. <P>SOLUTION: Polymer-dispersed liquid crystal (PDLC) or polymer network liquid crystal (PNLC) is used for a liquid crystal layer, white display (bright display) is performed using the scattered light of light by liquid crystal. An uneven structure 233 is disposed in a pixel region in which a pixel electrode layer 230 is formed, a pixel electrode layer (reflection layer) for reflecting visible light is disposed in a projecting surface, and a black layer 232 is disposed in a recess. The white display is performed using the scattered light of light by liquid crystal, and black display is performed by the black layer disposed in the recess via the liquid crystal layer which is light-transmissive due to the electric field. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
