<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shield machine equipped with a cutting device capable of suitably cutting underground buried objects difficult to excavate such as a drain material buried in the ground and continuing boring while preventing a cutting blade from being damaged. <P>SOLUTION: A cutter face plate in a shield machine is provided with a precedent bit for excavating the ground and a cutting blade 31 for cutting a drain material and the like buried in the ground. The cutting blade 31 is provided in a protection guide 35 and housed in the inside of the protection guide 35 during underground excavation. When the shield machine arrives at a position where the drain material is arranged, the cutting blade 31 is put out and the tip of the cutting blade 31 is protruded forward beyond the forwardmost face of the protection guide 35.
