<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain confidentiality of spread spectrum communication and realize high-speed communication by utilizing spread spectrum communication and non-spread spectrum communication in combination. <P>SOLUTION: When data is transmitted from a transmitter via a satellite line, significant data is divided into two by using a spreading code used in spread spectrum communication. Modulation and spread spectrum modulation with the use of the spreading code is applied to divided first data, and non-spread spectrum modulation is applied to second data, and the first data and the second data are transmitted to a communication station B via communication lines for spread spectrum and non-spread spectrum respectively. A receiver in the communication station B restores the first data by applying de-spreading and demodulation to a signal received via the spread spectrum communication line, and restores the second data by also applying demodulation to a signal received via the non-spread spectrum communication line.
