PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve sound quality by imparting modulation and presence to output sounds of an audio signal smoothed through dynamic range compression.SOLUTION: A dynamic range extension device includes: envelope detection means 21-23 for detecting an envelope of an audio signal; decibel conversion means 24 for decibel-converting the envelope; differentiation means 25 for generating a change signal indicating changes in the decibel-converted envelope; inversion means 26 for inverting the change signal; linear conversion means 28 for converting the inverted change signal to a linear signal to generate a detection signal; complementary signal generation means for subtracting a signal resulting from the multiplication of the audio signal by the detection signal from the audio signal to generate a complementary signal; and addition means for adding the complementary signal to the audio signal. |
