Disclosed is a white light illumination device provided with a semiconductor light-emitting element (2) which emits near-ultraviolet light, and a phosphor layer (5) which at least contains a blue-green phosphor that emits blue-green light and a red phosphor that emits red light. Said white light illumination device emits white light with a correlated color temperature of 5000K or lower and a distance (duv) from the black body locus of-0.01 to 0.01 inclusive. Moreover, the ratio of the blue-green phosphor content to the red phosphor content in the phosphor layer (5), in mass, is 35 to 50 inclusive. |
