In a method for controlling power of a fingerprint sensor according to the present invention, the method is configured so as to: receive sensor data acquired in the fingerprint sensor; determine whether received sensor data are fingerprint type data; determine whether changed amount of sensor data received during a certain time is at least a certain value if sensor data are fingerprint type data; and the fingerprint sensor may be configured to enter in the low power mode if changed amount of sensor data received is smaller than a certain value even if sensor data are not fingerprint type data or if changed amount of sensor data received is smaller than a certain value even if sensor data are fingerprint type data.
