The invention relates to an external control device 3 for controlling dynamic operation of a vehicle (V see fig 1) from outside the vehicle (V). The control device 3 includes a user interface 19 for receiving user inputs. A processor (41 see fig 3) is provided to generate at least one external control signal in dependence on the user inputs. A transmitter (45 see fig 3) is coupled to the processor (41) and configured to transmit the control signal(s) to a control unit (5 see fig 4) in the vehicle (V) for controlling dynamic operation of the vehicle (V). The control device 3 includes mounting means (7, 9 see fig 3) for releasably mounting it to the vehicle (V). The processor (41) is configured to generate the control signal(s) only when the control device 3 is mounted to the vehicle (V). The disclosure also relates to a vehicle control system 1, to a control unit (5), and to a vehicle (V) and seeks to overcome problems such as disorientation. |
