PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent instantaneous interruption of communication when redundant switching is performed in a communication system having a redundant configuration.SOLUTION: In a station side device 1a, each optical line unit 12 transmits a downlink communication signal to a plurality of house side devices 2 via an optical switch 11a, and receives uplink communication signals from the plurality of house side devices 2 via the optical switch 11a. A control unit 14 controls switching timing of the optical switch 11a and transmission timing of the plurality of house side devices 2 so that the optical switch 11a will not receive the uplink communication signals from the plurality of house side devices 2 during the switching transition period from start to completion of the switching in which the optical switch 11a switches from a communication path outputting a downlink communication signal received from a switching source optical line unit 12 to a passive optical network 3 to a communication path outputting a downlink communication signal received from a switching destination optical line unit 12 to the passive optical network 3. |
