<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carriage-type conveying apparatus especially of a type for pulling a carriage using a tractor which can be utilized for conveying an automobile body in an automobile assembly line. <P>SOLUTION: In the carriage-type conveying apparatus, there are included carriages (2) capable of traveling along a carriage travel route, and a carriage driving means (tractor) (1) capable of propelling the carriages (2) which are arranged in series on the carriage travel route. Each of the carriages (2) has such a lateral width having no extended floor to allow a worker to walk on both right and left sides of a load (W) to be supported. On each of the carriages (2), a load support means (3) is provided which supports the load (W) at such a position as one end in the length direction of the load (W) overlaps on the other carriages (2) adjoining back and forth when viewed from above.
