a metal silicate material having the dimensions of a nanosheet that is 1 to 10 monolayers thick and has one or two lateral dimensions of about 100 nm to 100 μm, wherein the metal silicate material is selected from the group consisting of: an alkaline earth copper silicate, a gillespite series silicate, and the metal silicate material has the following formula: A1-xCxB1-yDySi4O10, where A=Ca, Sr, Ba; C=Zn, Ti, lanthanide element; 0≦x≦1; B=Cu, Cr, Fe; D=alkali metal; and 0≦y≦1. |
