A power delivery system includes a power supply unit, a secondary power unit, a controller, and a monitor. The power supply unit is configured to receive primary power and provide operating DC power to a DC load. The secondary power unit is configured to store energy from the primary power. The controller is configured to control the secondary power unit during a testing period such that the secondary power unit uses the stored energy to provide secondary DC power to the load instead of the operating DC power. The monitor is configured to monitor the operation of the secondary power unit during the testing period and provide a signal indicative of whether the secondary power unit operated within defined parameters during the testing period.

1. A power delivery system comprising:
a power supply unit configured to receive primary power and provide operating DC power to a DC load, wherein the power supply comprises a selection circuit, the selection circuit being configured to select between power from the primary power and secondary power from the secondary power unit, the selection circuit being configured to provide the selected power to the DC load, wherein the selection circuit is configured to select the secondary power when the voltage of the secondary power is higher than the voltage of the power from the primary power based on characteristics of the power from the primary power and the secondary power, the characteristics including the voltage of the power from the primary power and the voltage of the secondary power; a secondary power unit configured to receive power from the primary power, store energy from the primary power, and, when the primary power is outside of a specified operating range, use the stored energy to provide secondary DC power to the load instead of the operating DC power; a controller configured to control the secondary power unit during a testing period such that the secondary power unit uses the stored energy to provide secondary DC power to the load instead of the operating DC power while the primary power is received by the power supply unit and is within the specified operating range such that the voltage of the secondary power is higher than the voltage of the power from the primary power; and a monitor configured to monitor the operation of the secondary power unit during the testing period and provide a signal indicative of whether the secondary power unit operated within defined parameters during the testing period.
