1. A lighting assembly for a ceiling fan, the ceiling fan having an attachment interface having an electrical connection for powering an external assembly, the lighting assembly comprising:
a housing configured to be connected to and supported by the attachment interface of the ceiling fan and to receive the electrical connection of the ceiling fan; a plurality of lighting arms extending from the housing and provided with a socket to receive a light bulb, the socket being configured to be in electrical communication with the electrical connection of the ceiling fan; and an auxiliary connection formed in a side of the housing to provide power to a modular external device that may be selectively coupled to the housing.
