The present invention relates to a backlight unit and a liquid crystal display using the same, the backlight unit comprising: a luminous diode; a flexible printed circuit board to provide a driving signal to the luminous diode; a light guiding panel to which a projected light from the luminous diode is introduced through its side, with a first area close to the side, being thicker than a second area relatively inside; a spread sheet and a complex prism sheet successively arranged on the light guiding panel. The spread sheet is equipped with a reflective sheet on one side of its back, and the reflective sheet equipped on the back side of the spread sheet is attached by corresponding to an incident light part of the light guiding panel. |
