The present invention relates to a method for producing high purity manganese oxide (Mn_3O_4), wherein high purity manganese oxide (Mn_3O_4) may be obtained from a byproduct generated from a manganese steel alloy electric furnace containing manganese. The method comprises the steps of: (S10) removing potassium from a byproduct generated from a manganese steel alloy electric furnace; (S20) leaching manganese sulfate by using sulfuric acid (H_2SO_4) after the step (S10); (S30) removing first impurities including iron from a leach liquor of the step (S20); (S40) removing second impurities by adding sodium sulfide after the step (S30); (S50) adding sodium hydroxide after the step (S40) to precipitate the same as manganese oxide material; (S70) oxidizing the same by supplying oxygen (O_2) after the step (S50); and (S90) collecting manganese oxide from a liquid obtained through the step (S70). |
