PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To discriminate a direction of a disc surface before loading in a record playback device.SOLUTION: A disc archive device includes: a plurality of discs that records data in both surfaces; a cartridge that stores the plurality of discs; a plurality of record playback devices; and a conveying device that conveys the disc from the cartridge to the record playback device. The conveying device has: a slot that receives the disc; a push-out part that pushes the disc from the cartridge to the slot; a sensor that detects an amount of insertion of the disc into the slot; and a spring that has an abutting part against an outer peripheral part of the inserted slot. A diameter of a first surface of each disc and a diameter of a second surface thereof are configured to be different from each other, and an amount of protrusion of a part on one side of the abutting part and an amount of protrusion of a part on the another side thereof are configured to be different from each other. The disc archive device determines a direction of the disc surface on the basis of the amount of insertion of the disc detected by the sensor.
