The present invention relates to a composition for skin whitening containing an extract of amaranth (Amaranthus spp. L.) or a fraction thereof. More specifically, the invention relates to a cosmetic composition for skin whitening or for improving skin pigmentation, a quasi-drug composition, or to a food composition, which contain an extract of amaranth or a fraction thereof as an active ingredient. In addition, the present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating skin pigmentation diseases, which contains the extract of amaranth or the fraction thereof as an active ingredient. In addition, the present invention relates to a method for improving skin whitening and preventing or improving skin pigmentation by using the composition, or a method for preventing, improving, or treating skin pigmentation diseases. |
