<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an impact absorption member that can secure large collision energy absorption amount for protecting pedestrians and can prevent damage of a radiator panel at the time of minor collision.SOLUTION: The impact absorption member includes a front member 2, an upper member 3, and a lower member 4 that are formed of a plate-shaped material. Flange portions 12, 14 that are formed by bending the front member 2 and the lower member 4, respectively and that extend in the vehicle width direction are superposed on each other to form a joined portion 18 between the front member 2 and the lower member 4. A load transmission member 5 for connecting the joined flange portion 14 with a radiator panel side 22 is provided. Thus, each of the front member 2, the upper member 3, and the lower member 4 is plastically deformed in accordance with a collision situation, so as to secure large energy absorption amount. The joined flange portions 12, 14 enhance rigidity and the collision load applied to the flange portion 14 can be transmitted to the radiator panel side 22 via the load transmission member 5, so as to prevent damage of a radiator panel upper 21 at the time of minor collision.</p> |
