The present invention relates to a badge composition for indentifying Shigella sonnei. The badge is formed by mixing a carbon source mixture, consisting of D-sorbitol, D-xylose, and lactose which can decompose other food poisoning bacterial but cannot decompose a Shigella genus, with 5-bromo-4-chloro-3-indolyl-beta-D-galactoside and 5-bromo-4-chloro-3-indolyl-beta-D-galacto pyarnoside which can decompose Shigella sonnei among the Shigella genus but cannot decompose other strains of the Shigella genus. A strain is cultured in the badge and then is identified whether the strain is Shigella sonnei by checking an colony appearance without Vitek or API tests. |
